As its name, POE, power over ethernet is using ethernet cable as a power resource, by this, it means you’re saving some spaces for using power supply. But basically this were often use for wireless access point devices, cause its place are close with ethernet cable and because placement of the devices might be in somewhere far from power supply.

They are differentiated primarily by the methods they use to filter data. An in-depth understanding of firewalls requires an understanding of the four basic categories they fall into—packet filters, circuit level gateways, application level gateways and stateful inspection firewalls. Firewall products can use one or more of these methods.

Packet filtering is one method that works by examining data packets as they pass through the firewall at the network layer.
